Urban Strategies

Urban Strategies is a nonprofit agency that has provided one AFI grant since 2009, with the objective of providing comprehensive community and supportive services for former residents of two public housing developments, Lamar Terrace and Dixie Homes, that are being revitalized as HOPE VI communities.

Urban Strategies emphasizes postsecondary education, with the goal of assisting youth to secure their futures by working in the present to build and sustain financial and educational assets. Highlights of this grantee include intensive case management, an emphasis on training that leads to employment, job development, placement and retention services, technology training for teens and adults, health promotion and improved access to healthcare, and enrollment of children in high-quality after-school and summer programs.

Urban Strategies partners with RISE Foundation to provide financial literacy training.
