Umpqua Community Development Corporation has provided four AFI grants since 2008, with the objective of expanding its IDA program to serve more rural areas.
Umpqua Community Development Corporation emphasizes homeownership, postsecondary education, and business capitalization, with the goal of expanding its IDA program to serve more rural areas in southwestern Oregon. The corporation has been successful in drawing down Federal funds, allocating Federal funds, enrolling participants, graduating participants, and developing strategies to improve the percentage of participants who make monthly deposits.
Partners
Umpqua Community Development Corporation partners with Consumer Credit Counseling Services, to provide assistance with financial education; Umpqua Training and Employment, to provide referral and appropriate career counseling; Housing Authority of Douglas County, to provide referral/collaboration with the Section 8 to Homeownership Program and referrals of TANF participants; local school administrators, to provide student referrals and facilities for financial education classes, case management, and goal-specific training; Small Business Development Center in North Bend and Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians, to provide referrals. Umpqua Community Development Corporation also partners with the Umpqua Coastal Housing Center to provide financial education for local participants, direct services for homeownership IDAs, case management, and goal-specific training.
