The Center for Women and Families

The Center for Women and Families is a nonprofit community organization that has provided five AFI grants since 2007, with the objective of providing low-income individuals with the tools to gain self-sufficiency.

The Center emphasizes homeownership, with the goals of illustrating the value of asset building as a way to reduce and eliminate poverty; encouraging self-sufficiency among clients, teaching and supporting individual financial skills; and encouraging homeownership in the Louisville metro area. This grantee has been successful in achieving home purchases.

Partners

The Center for Women and Families partners with its own Economic Literacy Education Project, Kentucky Housing Corporation, and Louisville Asset Building Coalition to provide support and education on the principles of banking and investing, and assistance with outreach.

Focus Population

The Center for Women and Families targets eligible low-income individuals and families in the Louisville metro area and the counties outlined in the centers service area, which include Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble in Kentucky.
