Red River Valley Community Action

Red River Valley Community Action is a community action agency that since 2005 has provided five AFI grants with the objective of developing self-sufficiency in the financial lives of its IDA participants.

The organization administers single agency and Network projects. Its Network projects have five subgrantees. Red River Valley Community Action emphasizes homeownership, postsecondary education, and business capitalization with the goal of changing the way participants think about financial matters by instilling the importance of asset development and developing self-sufficiency in their financial lives. The organization has been successful in enrolling participants, opening IDAs, and making several asset purchases.

Partners

The organization partners with the Village Family Service Center, Small Business Development Center, and TRIO Educational Opportunity Center to provide financial education. The group also partners with the IRS, sponsoring VITA programs; Grand Forks Housing Authority and Grand Forks County Social Services, providing referrals; and USDA Rural Development and Red River Valley Community Action Homeownership and Rehabilitation Program, providing home purchase assistance.
