Kentucky Domestic Violence Association, Inc. (KDVA) is a nonprofit organization that has provided four AFI grants since 2004, with the objective to increase the number of project participants who are homeowners and file for the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, and eliminate participants’ use of paid tax preparers who offer high-interest refund anticipation loans.
KDVA is a Network grantee with 16 subgrantees. The organization emphasizes homeownership, postsecondary education, and business capitalization, with the goals of illustrating the value of asset building as a way to reduce and eliminate poverty, encouraging self-sufficiency among IDA participants, and teaching individual financial skills. This grantee has been successful in achieving home purchases.
Partners
KDVA partners with the Kentucky Asset Success Initiative, Kentucky Housing Corporation, and Green County Adult Learning Center to provide free tax preparation, financial education, and workforce development assistance.
