Housing Authority of the City of Tacoma

The Housing Authority of the City of Tacoma has provided one AFI grant since 2006, with the objective to help participants identify and attain their self-sufficiency goals.

The authority emphasizes homeownership, postsecondary education, and business capitalization, with the goal of assisting participants to identify and attain their self-sufficiency goals. The housing authority has been successful in enrolling participants, making several asset purchases, and drawing down Federal funds.

Partners

The authority partners with Pierce County Housing Authority to provide outreach efforts and one-on-one family self-sufficiency counseling for IDA participants; Consumer Counseling Northwest, to provide credit counseling and credit repair classes; Habitat for Humanity, to provide post-selection and pre-purchase classes for homeowners; and Washington Women Employment and Education, to provide employment readiness and job placement assistance. Housing Authority of the City of Tacoma also partners with Pierce County and the city of Tacoma to provide down payment assistance for participants in their respective jurisdictions.
