Central Vermont Community Action Council, Inc. is a Community Action Agency that has provided twelve AFI grants since 1999 with the objective of conducting programs for low-income Vermonters, particularly in economic and job development and in family services.
Central Vermont Community Action Council, Inc. is a Network grantee with five subgrantees. Central Vermont Community Action Council, Inc. emphasizes homeownership, postsecondary education, and business capitalization with the goals of building economic literacy, referring participants to essential resources and support services, and encouraging those Vermonters who are willing to work, learn, and accumulate significant assets to realize their dreams of home ownership, postsecondary education or vocational training, as well as business development. Central Vermont Community Action Council, Inc. has been successful in integrating financial education with savings to help low-income residents throughout the State build and manage assets.

Central Vermont Community Action Council, Inc. partners with Opportunities Credit Union, Community National Bank, Vermont Agency of Human Services, Vermont Department of Labor, Central Vermont Homeownership Center, USDA Rural Development State office, the Technical Assistance Providers’ Association, Community Capital of Vermont, Vermont Student Assistance Corporation, Consumer Credit Counseling, Vermont State Housing Authority, Barre Housing Authority, and Vermont Family Matters to provide participant recruitment, student education loans, asset education and supplementary financing, financial education, and credit counseling.
